How External Triggers and Internal Imbalances Combine to Cause Acne Breakouts

Acne is not just a skin problem; it's a reflection of your gut, mental, or metabolic health. For example, when your gut microbiome is imbalanced, it can trigger inflammation, which affects your hormone production and thus causes breakouts or blemishes. Epigenetics, meaning how your environment influences your genes, can activate acne genes when stress, diet, and toxins come into play.

External triggers such as an imbalanced skin microbiome, irregular skin cell turnover, excess sebum, and harsh skincare products can further damage the skin barrier and worsen acne.

To effectively treat acne, it's essential to address both internal and external factors simultaneously. This means rebalancing the gut and hormones, managing stress, ensuring proper hydration, getting enough sleep, exercising, and choosing skincare products that support the skin's natural balance instead of disrupting it.

How Toxins Contribute to Acne Breakouts:

Toxins, whether from the environment or within the body, contribute to acne by triggering biological processes that lead to inflammation and oxidative stress. When pollutants such as particulate matter, heavy metals, or chemicals in skincare products enter the body, they can penetrate the skin and bloodstream. The immune system then releases pro-inflammatory molecules called cytokines, which promote inflammation not only in the skin but throughout the body. Additionally, toxins lead to the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), unstable molecules that can damage cells when present in excess – this is known as oxidative stress.

This combination of inflammation and ROS overproduction leads to increased sebum (oil) production by the sebaceous glands. Sebum, which normally helps protect the skin, becomes excessive and mixes with dead skin cells, clogging pores. Clogged pores create a favorable environment for the proliferation of acne-causing bacteria, such as Cutibacterium acnes, leading to breakouts. The link between ROS, inflammation, and excessive sebum production demonstrates how toxins can disrupt skin health and cause acne.

How Skin Diligent's Acne Kit Effectively Treats Acne from the Inside Out?

Skin Diligent's Acne Kit represents the next generation of acne solutions, using an epigenetic approach to target acne. This new kit replaces our previous Acne-Prone kit and offers a more advanced dual approach to healing your skin. By targeting both the root causes of acne and the skin itself, the kit avoids the negative side effects often associated with aggressive medical acne treatments.

The Acne Kit includes two skincare steps and a dietary supplement, with cutting-edge ingredients designed to better treat spots and blemishes. At the heart of the kit is our Regulation Serum, a revolutionary epigenetic formulation that de-stresses skin cells and improves their ability to reproduce as healthy cells. Since acne is an inflammatory condition, reducing inflammation is also a key component of this powerful serum.

Step 1: Triple Action Cleanser, skincare

Most cleansers are over 90% water and can contain harsh ingredients that can damage the skin barrier. A damaged skin barrier can promote inflammation and worsen acne. In contrast, Skin Diligent's Triple Action Cleanser is gentle, pH-balanced, and does not strip your skin of its natural oils. It contains 86% glycerin as well as probiotics and a plant resin, Protium heptaphyllum, to gently cleanse, soothe, and rebalance the skin's microbiome.

Step 2: Regulation Serum, skincare

The revolutionary epigenetic formula of our Regulation Serum addresses almost all surface factors that contribute to acne. It regulates sebum production, targets blackheads and pimples, reduces redness, and improves overall skin health. The serum also helps prevent deep scars, one of the most delicate aspects of skincare, as scars are notoriously difficult to treat once they have formed.

Fading hyperpigmentation is another significant challenge, but this serum visibly diminishes dark spots, some even disappearing completely. It is a powerful solution for acne marks and post-acne marks, making it an essential tool for clearer skin and a more even complexion.

A gentler alternative to aggressive acne treatments, the Regulation Serum is suitable for regular use or as an "SOS" treatment for occasional breakouts. Its multifunctional formula strengthens the skin barrier while tackling blemishes. Additionally, it brightens acne marks, UV sun spots, and other types of hyperpigmentation by reducing cellular stress and inhibiting enzymes responsible for melanin production.

Step 3: Skin & Stress Dietary Supplement

Stress is a major factor affecting both teenagers and adults, and studies have shown a clear link between stress and acne. When you are stressed, your body produces higher levels of cortisol, a hormone that can increase sebum production in the skin, leading to clogged pores and breakouts. Stress management is crucial, and dietary supplements that support skin health and help regulate stress can be effective in reducing acne.

The Skin & Stress dietary supplement replenishes micronutrients lost in the body due to excessive stress, which people with acne often lack. Natural Vitamin C comes from Acerola cherry. Combined with zinc and magnesium, it contributes to normal collagen formation, normal skin, immune system, and nervous system function. Vitamin C, copper, and Vitamin E provide antioxidant action. Finally, Vitamin B6 helps regulate hormonal activity.

By combining Skin & Stress with these two skincare steps, you can effectively target acne and its root causes with a dual approach. Externally, our Regulation Serum targets spots, blemishes, hyperpigmentation, and prevents scars, while our Triple Action Cleanser cleanses, adds probiotics, and rebalances the skin's microbiome. Internally, our Skin & Stress supplement allows you to care for your skin from within by targeting micronutrient imbalances and stress.

Directions for Use:

Take the Skin & Stress dietary supplement with a meal to avoid gastric upset:

3 capsules once a day at breakfast or lunch, with water (avoid coffee or tea 30/40 mins before/after, as caffeine can interfere with the absorption of vitamins and minerals).

Use skincare products twice a day, morning and evening. For heavy makeup, use a gentle makeup remover before cleansing.

Step 1, Triple Action Cleanser: Apply a small amount of product to damp face and gently massage for 30 seconds. This cleanser does not foam. Rinse and pat dry.

How to Effectively Target Acne and Premature Skin Aging for Clear, Healthy Skin?

When facing multiple skin concerns, such as acne breakouts and premature aging, a comprehensive approach yields better results. Here is the regimen we recommend:

Dietary Supplement:

- If your acne is stress-related, opt for Skin & Stress.
- For acne related to hormonal imbalance or gut dysbiosis (manifested by digestive issues or bloating), opt for Skin & Biotics, which contains probiotics, prebiotics, as well as essential vitamins and minerals.

For Skin & Biotics, take 2 capsules with water and food to avoid any gastric discomfort. Avoid tea or coffee 30/40 minutes before/after, as caffeine can interfere with the absorption of vitamins and minerals. The capsules are gastro-resistant for better absorption.

Skincare:

Use the following skincare products twice a day, morning and evening. For heavy makeup, start by using a gentle makeup remover.

Morning Care:

1. Triple Action Cleanser: Apply a small amount to damp face, gently massage for 30 seconds, then rinse and pat dry.
2. Regulation Serum: Apply 3-4 drops directly on and around blemishes. Let dry for 1 minute.
3. Cellular Hydration Serum: Apply 3 to 5 drops to the entire face.
4. Vitamin C Serum-in-oil: Apply 3 to 5 drops to the face.

Note: Steps 3 and 4 act as a day cream, so it is often not necessary to use another moisturizer. However, SPF is essential as a last step if exposed to the sun.

Evening Care:

Follow steps 1, 2, and 4, then finish with the Exosome Advanced Night Cream.

For simplicity, you can opt for the Quartet bundle, adding the Regulation Serum and the dietary supplement of your choice.
