OPTIMIZE YOUR SKIN AGING
TESTED FOR THE ABSENCE OF ESTROGENIC AND ANDROGENIC ENDOCRINE DISRUPTION.
Some substances can disrupt the natural functioning of our hormones: these are called endocrine disruptors. Looking at each ingredient separately is not enough. Once combined in the same formula, they can interact and produce a different effect. This is known as the cocktail effect.
This is why we test every product in its final formula, exactly as it will be applied to the skin.
FAQ - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Retinal or retinol: what is the difference?
Retinal, or retinaldehyde, is one step closer to the active form of vitamin A than retinol: it requires only a single conversion step in the skin, compared to two for retinol. This conversion has been measured to be up to eleven times faster in the laboratory. The CEL™ Retinal Serum contains 0.15% of it, encapsulated for gradual release.
Does retinal cause the skin to peel or turn red?
This is what makes people give up on retinol most often: flaking, tightness, and redness during the first few weeks. The retinal in the CEL™ Retinal Serum is encapsulated in a Protium heptaphyllum resin, which releases it gradually instead of all at once. The serum was tested on 20 women with sensitive skin, aged 35 to 60. A reaction is still possible: start by using it every other evening for three weeks.
Does retinal cause purging, with breakouts at the beginning?
Purging is a breakout of imperfections that sometimes occurs when starting a retinoid: by accelerating cell turnover, it causes blemishes that were already forming to surface more quickly. It is more common with potent, immediate-release retinoids. If breakouts occur, space out the applications instead of stopping.
Is it suitable for all skin types?
Yes. Thanks to its encapsulation technology and its combination with the CEL™ Complex, the serum is designed to offer optimal tolerance, even for sensitive and acne-prone skin.
Sensitive, reactive, or redness-prone skin: can it be used?
Yes, that is the profile on which the serum was tested: 20 women with sensitive skin, aged 35 to 60, over 28 days. The encapsulation avoids the concentration spike responsible for most reactions. In case of rosacea or an eczema flare-up, seek your dermatologist's advice before starting.
Can retinal be used in the summer?
Yes, by applying it in the evening and using sunscreen in the morning. Retinoids do not make the skin photosensitive in the allergic sense, but they accelerate cell turnover, and the new skin is more vulnerable to UV rays. In case of intense exposure, space out applications.
Can I use it while pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Retinoids, including retinal, are not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Does retinal act on dark spots?
Retinoids improve skin tone evenness by accelerating surface cell turnover. In a 28-day test, 95% of participants found their skin smoother, firmer, and more even.
